BACK TO THE JOURNEY, MAN -THE BEGINNING OF THE END, OR THE END OF MY BEGINNING?

WHAT DO YOU DESIRE, MY SON?

Without even letting the voice properly finish, Jock answered ‘Rosie from the office. She’s dead fit ya know. I never really looked at her like that before, but since she helped when that tit Luis broke my face, I’ve come to appreciate her more she’s just so fucking pretty, and when she has her glasses on and hair down…’

The voice cut him off. NO, MY SON. IN YOUR CAREER. WHAT DO YOU DESIRE?

‘In what sense? Like do I want to manage Dundee? Yeah sure. Scotland? Of course I do. Rangers? Nah fuck that. Newcastle? With all that money even I could win things’

YES, I GUESS THAT’S WHAT I MEAN. WHAT ABOUT IN THE SHORT TERM, WHAT IS NEXT FOR YOU MY SON

‘Well I’ve absolutely smashed it here at Cancun haven’t I. With my professional hat on I’ve over-achieved at every stop. We’ve outplayed the best of them and beat the rest of them. What more have I got to do here?’ Jock replied

AND YOUR OTHER HAT?

‘My realist hat says that it’s beginners luck. That’s the perception Hoskins has got’

HOSKINS FROM DUNDEE?

‘Yeah the ginger prick’

I’M NOT SURE HE’D TAKE TOO KINDLY TO THAT

‘Behave, he’s me best pal. I could shag his sister again and he wouldn’t be arsed’

HE DOESN’T KNOW ABOUT THAT DOES HE?

‘Oh shit no, it’s Bazza that knows’

I WON’T SAY ANYTHING

‘Thanks big guy’

BUT BACK TO MY QUESTION, WHAT MORE DO YOU DESIRE

‘Between us, I think when I win this next final, and I’ll have won it all, maybe it’s time to seek pastures new, what you reckon?’

YOU AND ONLY YOU CAN MAKE THAT DECISION. I AM WITH YOU WHATEVER PATH YOU CHOOSE. BUT MY ADVICE WOULD BE SEEK THE COUNSEL OF THOSE CLOSEST TO YOU, NOT JUST HOSKINS, BUT BAZZA TOO EVEN THO HE’S A BIT OF A LOOSE CANNON

‘Got ya. So do you think we’ll win this game?’

YOU KNOW I CAN’T REALLY SAY ON THAT, BUT IF I WAS A BETTING MAN, I’D SAY YES, YOU’RE GOING TO WIN IT

Jock woke up on the morning of December 14th feeling fresh as a daisy. When he arrived at the stadium his phone pinged with a text

Good luck today, you’ll do amazing. I’ll be waiting for you at the restaurant as promised. Love R x

R for Rosie. Jock had struck up a friendship with her since the title wining game exactly 6 months ago today. The reason he gave her to continue the relationship was to spend time with her to learn Spanish. She knew he liked her, she liked him too, but didn’t let on.

As for where the team are, when you were last here Cancun had a 4-1 advantage in the second leg of the opening stage final, and won the tie 6-1 on aggregate to secure trophy number 3 (1 x Closing stage, 1 x Champions trophy & this Closing stage) for the club in Jocks 18 months in charge

Favoured personnel at his first club, alongside one of his first signings Tommy Brockbank!

The way things work in this division, if a team wins both the opening and closing stage, there is no champions trophy game and that team is declared Expansion League winners. Cancun are close to achieving that feat, seeing as how they’re once again in the closing stage final. This time against Cimarrones after going through the full closing stage unbeaten. 17 played, 14 wins and 3 draws

All those green circles with no red in sight, you just love to see it!

What a 2 year journey it had been. Even if they failed to win the closing stage final against Cimarrones, they would be in the Champions Trophy game anyway by winning the opening stage.

But the Cancun players were all in agreement that they want to win the closing stage so as not to leave any doubt that they were the best team this season, and no other team came close.
